Moving Out of Shinjuku City or Leaving Japan: The Moving-out Notification (転出届), What to Bring, and Sending It by Mail
When you move out of Shinjuku City (including when you move abroad), you submit a Notification of Moving-out (転出届). You can submit it from 14 days before you move (or within 14 days after you move). Foreign residents bring their Residence Card (在留カード) or Special Permanent Resident Certificate (特別永住者証明書) as their ID. People moving to another municipality in Japan, including another ward in Tokyo, receive a Certificate of Moving-out (転出証明書), which they use for the moving-in notification at their new address. A paper Certificate of Moving-out is not issued when you use the My Number Card moving-out procedure.
