About the JLPT levels

The JLPT does not publish official lists of kanji for each level. The levels on this site are a guide based on the official Test Content Specifications used for the test through 2009. The JLPT states that the current N1, N2, N4 and N5 are designed to match the former Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4, and that N3 falls between the former Levels 2 and 3.
