How to do something｜読み方よみかた・使い方つかいかた

Turn a verb into a noun for a way of doing something. Remove ます and add 方, read かた.

『読み方よみかた』は、どう読むよむかという意味いみです。『読みよみます』の『ます』を取っとって、『方かた』を付けつけます。

Use the masu-stem

読みよみます→読み方よみかた、書きかきます→書き方かきかた、使いつかいます→使い方つかいかた. The pattern uses the part before ます, not the dictionary form.

『読むよむ方かた』ではなく、『読み方よみかた』です。この課かでは、方法ほうほうを表すあらわす言葉ことばを練習れんしゅうします。

Treat the result as a noun

You can put を after the new noun: 使い方つかいかたを説明しせつめいします. You can also say 読み方よみかたがわかりません.

『使い方つかいかたを説明しせつめいします』『読み方よみかたがわかりません』のように使いつかいます。

Name the thing before の

この漢字かんじの読み方よみかた and この道具どうぐの使い方つかいかた show what you want to read or use. の connects the thing to its method.

何のなんの方法ほうほうかを言ういうときは、『この道具どうぐの使い方つかいかた』のように『の』を使いつかいます。

Keep noun-making separate from requesting help

読み方よみかた is the method noun. 教えおしえてください is a request. You can learn each part separately and then combine them.

『読み方よみかた』だけでは、お願いねがいにはなりません。お願いねがいするときは、『読み方よみかたを教えおしえてください』などと言えいえます。
