Earthquake Evacuation in Shinjuku: Where to Go and What to Do
In Shinjuku City, after an earthquake, you do not need to evacuate if there is no danger of large fires or collapsed houses. There are three types of evacuation locations with different roles: Temporary Gathering Locations (一時集合場所) to assess the situation, Evacuation Areas (避難場所 / 広域) to protect against large fires, and Evacuation Shelters (避難所) such as municipal elementary and junior high schools when you can no longer live at home.
